About
self-made (adj.): Having achieved success or recognition by one’s own efforts
My name is Alex and I’m a really big dreamer.
Unlike most authoritative blog writers, I’m not a successful entrepreneur with a great track record. I’m actually a career limboist. A person with no job and no post-secondary degrees or diplomas. For the last 9 years I’ve worked at 7 different jobs, and started/ended 2 freelance & consulting businesses.
Despite my seemingly unsuccessful career, I’ve still managed to buy a condo, spend 4 months in Europe, purchase, ride and sell 2 motorcycles, learn a 3rd language (Spanish), meet tons of great people and have an incredible time.
Self-made guy
The idea of being self-made is appealing to many people, but I think the definition needs some tweaking. In my opinion, regardless of financial level and recognition, a self-made person can be successful by accomplishing their goals in the face of adversity.
Motivation
Motivation comes from doing the things people said you couldn’t do.
Purpose
My goal with this blog is to show people that success can be measured on many different scales. It doesn’t have to be monetary or publicly recognizable. This is my story, the way I’ve approached life, and the way I plan to move forward in order to achieve my goals. It’s the story of a self-made guy.
